This blog started in Uruguay where I found over 700 letters dealing with the whereabouts of my grandmother, who fled to Uruguay from Berlin due to the Nazis. The blog continued in NYC, where I spent an unforgettable summer interning and enjoying the city and its theaters. Now, it continues in Berlin, as I work to unearth more of my grandmother's history and study a bit too! This is for my mom and those around the globe sweet enough to follow!

Settling Down
We have been here almost 5 full days, and I am just now feeling like things are getting back to normal. We stayed at my parent's apartment and I got to skype friends and enjoy some down time with my cousin and her boyfriend. Then, we went out to eat with a bunch of my dad's friends, who use to all take percussion lessons with him. It was so cool to see how successful they have all become, and how happy they are with their lives. They were all so thankful towards my dad, one of them even tricked us and paid for the whole table. We felt AWFUL!!!!! So nice though. On the way there, we encountered the first cat ON A LEASH. Sooooo odd! Today, we woke up to the WONDERFUL view of Montevideo from the 21st story apartment. Then the crazy last day began. Last minute errands everywhere. So... I just took off and headed to my aunt's, where I just sat and enjoyed some quiet, posted some pictues, and laid down a bit. Then off to the airport to say goodbye. We had some coffee with the parents, some friends, and my aunts as we waited for the time for them to head to the gate. After the left, we took a taxi that toured us around Montevideo by night. It was the greatest investment because I got to see the side of the city where I grew up, which I had not seen till then. It is such a pretty side, I can't wait to share it with friends!!! After getting home, we ordered some empanadas and are still up chatting and drinking coffee at 2am. Tomorrow is the start of the scheduled project. The work is gonna be tougher and longer than expected, but I'm excited! I will keep the updates coming!!! But now i'm gonna go back to watching this guy (Brazilian guy) trying to speak Spanish on tv and preaching some real intense sermon on "pestes malignas," if you don't know what that means, look it up! Hahahaha
